A bright white light? Eternal darkness?

It is my conviction that after our death our spirit, our soul, travels to its origin somewhere in the universe. And once arrived, our energy, the energy given to us on loan at our birth, is reunited with the energy from which everything around us once originated.

As we know from the beautiful photographs taken by the Hubble telescope, the energy visible to us in the universe consists of light from countless stars. This light illuminates enormous gas nebulae in many fascinating colors. And this is how I like to see myself. As a very small colored particle of dust. After leaving this physical existence, this particle returns to such an infinitely large, multicolored cloud of gas and dust.

The way there is an enchanting journey through space. Alternating between silent darkness and clouds full of light, color and tranquilizing sounds. And after that long, fascinating journey, we arrive at our designated spot in that infinite space.

Our energy is back at its origin, enriched by our experiences, ready to make another journey through the universe.

In the project Nebulae I wanted to visualize that journey. So that is how a series of abstract photographic artworks came into being. Made by transforming nine abstract realistic photographs of sunsets over the North Sea along the coast of the Thy region, North Jutland, Denmark.

The Nebulae artworks come in a Limited Edition of 4 per size group, signed and with a certificate of authenticity. But of course, it is also available as Open Edition print, without signature and not numbered. Prices starting at €50 / US$55. You can choose any size up to 150x150cm / 60x60 inches.
