The river rushes forth
over it's sandy path,

The Netherlands. My country of birth, the country where I have lived almost all my life.
A flat landscape with winding rivers and beautiful villages.
Country roads between fields, that are marked by endless rows of bushes and trees.
Polders that are sometimes lower than sea level. Rivers and canals that, if you fly like a bird, seem to divide the land in thousands of islands.
Morning is coming,
all that remains of our dreams
are the colors of silence
The first morning light in a deserted heathland that prepares for winter.
Trees are waking up from
the fleeing ends of the night
A thick scent of oncoming rain
waves over the fields
Grey clouds silently come rushing in
to accompany me on my morning walk
Mirror of light
A few rays of sunlight
escaping into the darkness
And early on this dark Sunday morning
in the silence of a house still sleeping
while the storm continues to rage, and lightning
brightly illuminated the proud tree, as a beacon
in the deserted landscape,
I tell stories of what was and what will be,
creating atmospheres to match
and enjoy my morning tea

And early on this clear Tuesday morning
in the silence of a house still asleep,
while the storm has died down, and the moon
tenderly illuminates the proud tree, knowing
what it has endured the past days,
I tell stories of what was and what can be,
create matching moods
and enjoy my morning tea
And very early on this clouded Friday morning
in the silence of a house still asleep,
while the storm has died down, and the moon
tenderly illuminates the clouds, and the tree
whispers stories of what was and what should be,
I carefully create matching moods, enjoy
a cup of tea and the silence of the night
Rooted, deep and still. Just
resting, at the center of its world
A single tree, the flawless frozen
leaves in the glow of a hazy,
cold autumn morning
On my creative path to a crystal tree, I made a stop at a tree that appeared to be not crystallised enough. So I named it frozen tree…

It is evening, right as the sun sets, the wind dies down after a windy day. It becomes silent, the darkness and winter chill of a cloudless evening muffling every sound. Nature is full of adaptive changes. But humanity?
Don't we all long for those winds of change ?
Individually, and as fresh winds that heal sick people, blow corrupt governments and terrorist leaders into the ocean for good, but not least as a society ?
We all know what starts change, don't we ?
So... ?
In the fire of the sunset,
the day dies
for the night to be born

Morning Dream
shattered in the fragile light
The clouds slowly awaken
and rise to the sky
It is early morning on a cold winter day. The sun has just risen, the first rays gently touching the reeds. The clouds seem to awaken from the cold waters of the fens and drift up to the sky like patches of mist in the wind, carrying the dreams with them...

The dying light,
no sound,
not a word.
Trees leaning in red,
comforted
in loneliness.
A special calm comes over the evening when the sun begins to disappear behind the horizon and the light of the day dies. Nature awaits the night.
I love that quiet moment of the day...

Dancing my lonely
dance on the water’s edge,
nobody here to disturb
My silence

As I sit by the bank musing,
the first light of morning gently
clears the haze in my mind
Sometimes I just feel that a new poem is not right, but cannot find which word or words need to be changed. Then I like to find a quiet place, a place where nature helps me empty my mind of a haze of repetitive phrases. Space for something new, for new images and words that describe them.

Marshes have a special appeal. Is it the calm water? The assumption that "the whole world" used to look like this, long ago? Or is it the many mysterious places among the reeds, where something may have been hiding?
In any case, what particularly attracts me is the pale light that often prevails through the mists, through the many light-colored grasses and reeds and through the large reflective surfaces.
Everything in a swamp seems thinner, fragile almost, untouchable….
At the same time, it is not difficult to feel part of the landscape. The silence absorbs you, the mists make you feel like you are floating above the water.

A fresh september morning, the haze dissolves and the sun shows itself carefully.
The trees along the river Maas, near the town of Heumen in the Netherlands, seem to wake up with a slight shiver.

Waltzing on the wind
Guided by rippling water
in their naked dance
A cold, hazy winter morning. Bare trees on the banks of the river move gently in the wind in the same rhythm as the ripples on the water. The river leads this dance...

The Waal river in The Netherlands. A beautiful, broad river, the busiest river in Europe. The Waal river flows into the North Sea.
