Forests often have an enchanting atmosphere. The murmur of leaves enhances the silence, the dim light hides a lot of details... At the same time, scarce light can give objects a different, mysterious form. And a creaking branch will make you look around to discover where that deer is hiding...

But sometimes a forest is like a fairy tale. Usually those are the rare moments when a few rays of sunlight manage to penetrate to the soft moss through a dense canopy. And as the wind makes the treetops move, light and shadow play a fascinating story, searching for those fairy tale characters hiding somewhere among the trees….

'Silent Darkness' is an artwork in my collection 'Secret Places'.

I made it on a walk on a bright sunny day on the threshold of spring in in the forest of the nature reserve Lövö, Kalmar region, Sweden. One of the most beautiful forests I have ever visited...
