Light of Emptiness

Silent shadows
push me to the light
Emptiness
whispers my name

'Light Of Emptiness' is an artwork in a four-part black and white project. In this project I photographed tree lanes as a charcoal like sketch.

I made this photo on a gray rainy day in May on a path between a canal and the fields, in the vicinity of the city of Nijmegen, The Netherlands.

At Daybreak

At daybreak
The tops of pine trees
hit by sunlight

Early in the morning, it's quiet after a night full of mysterious sounds. The first sunlight hits the tops of the pine trees, the forest awakes.

‘At Daybreak’ is a new artwork in the collection 'Secret Places‘.
I made it in the beautiful old forest ‘Vilsbøl Klitplantage’ near the coastal city of Klitmøller, North Jutland.

Where The Green Ants Dream

"You white men are lost. You don't understand the land. Too many silly questions.
Your presence on this earth will come to an end.
You have no sense. No purpose. No direction."

Where The Green Ants Dream (1984, Werner Herzog), Quote: Miliritbi (played by Wandjuk Marika)

Associating is a strange phenomenon. Sometimes a line from a song or poem comes straight into my mind when I see a photo I've made.
When my wife saw this photo yesterday, that I had made half an hour before, the first thing she said was: 'Where The Green Ants Dream'.

Images of that movie immediately came to my mind, and although this photo has no direct relationship to it, the title stuck in my head for this photo.

It fits perfectly for me...
