The Western world is busy. Long to-do lists constantly hold us by the throat, and so we are in a constant hurry. The list needs to be checked off, but refills itself at the bottom as if by itself. Full agendas, an inexhaustible urge to soak up information, and the fear of missing something that others consider important causes us to be on the go from morning to night. Then we fall down in our beds, exhausted, and all too often sleep then refuses to come….
The timeless life
Since we quit paid work six years ago and moved to Denmark, we have been living in low gear. We hardly use a calendar and diary. And the clock plays a very small role in our daily lives.
Living without time is living with much less hurry, and much less stress. We feel very fortunate to have been able to create that timeless space around us. It even feels as a bigger treasure than our simple and sustainable way of living.
There are hardly any obligations in our life, so we rarely feel urges or pressures. We have developed our own daily rhythm in which there is room for all the things we consider important. And at a calm and relaxed pace. Disruption of this rhythm really only happens if we consciously, in advance, choose to do so ourselves.
The calendar now serves mainly as a reminder for loved ones' birthdays. The diary is for a handful of appointments a year: the dentist, an appointment with acquaintances for a coffee, service appointment for the car….
The Timeless Ginkgo
Nothing, and no one, appears "just like that" in your life. There is always much to learn from people, other living species, situations and seemingly random circumstances.
In our garden, among many other trees and bushes, a Ginkgo biloba is growing. An extraordinary tree. Just before the dark days of winter, this tree lights up brightly one more time with its golden yellow leaves before letting them go. The ginkgo symbolises resilience, original life force and timelessness, among other things.
The triangle has been used as a symbol of spiritualism and enlightenment since the dawn of human civilization.
Oh, and the dried autumn leaves of the Ginkgo tree? They make a delicious tea !
'Timeless' is an artwork in my collection 'Secret Places'. It can be delivered as triangular artwork, see the room view below. Please contact me for more info.
Wishing you a resilient day ! And try living for a day on your feelings and the circumstances, rather than on the clock, your agenda and a to-do list...

ALL WE NEED IS LESS CONSUMING
Through my artworks I ask you to reflect for a moment on the nature around you, on the beautiful feeling that nature can evoke. Thus to think about your actions to support the wellbeing of the earth and everything that lives on it. And on what humanity loses when many of us continue on the destructive path of ever more greed and consuming. And please, reflect on how you can survive in this rapidly changing world…

No time, no urge, priceless!! That’s what I like… when I’m on vacation!!
But to be honest, I’m not sure I would enjoy all the time. I also like to meet people, to exchange, to visit…
Beautiful artwork, I didn’t know you could use ginkgo leaves for tea. Thanks a lot again for this and enjoy your day with your loved ones.
Living at a leisurely pace, without hurry and without pressure, does not automatically mean that you do not see anyone. It does mean that you set your own agenda, that you don’t try to cram too much into a day, which means you are always behind schedule, always late, always looking at the clock because you know you have so much more to do….
Thank you for your comment and wishes, and a wonderful day to you and your loved ones Laurence
Lieber Jacob, danke für Deine wunderbaren Sonntagsgedanken, denen ich voll und ganz zustimme und schätze und hoffentlich viele inspiriert !
